It’s a big week over at our house. I have a big boy starting Kindergarten and big girl starting Preschool for the first time. I’m an emotional wreck.
For my Kindergartner, I wanted to make it extra special since he is starting a new school and old enough now to understand what is going on. I decided on starting a new dinner tradition for the night before school.
I decorated a table for them, created some fun worksheets to fill out with me and got them a few books to read together about what will be going on this week. I’m actually putting it together tonight as a dinner for him and an “after your first day” dinner for her, since our preschooler started before him.
On the menu for tonight? Whatever they want. My bet is on Pizza and Croquetas.
I created the table decorations mostly with construction paper, some chalk markers and stuff I had laying around. I picked up some red plates at target and made them look like apples with some paper leaves. I had some bamboo utensils and drew ruler lines to tie in the theme.
And I ordered the wall decorations and little apple balloons linked here off Amazon which come with only a one day delivery time in case you are down to the wire but still want to do something cute.
And lastly, I made some little pennants for some fun pictures. Feel free to download the FREE printable file for the worksheet and DIY pennants below. I included files for pennants from Preschool to High School and some cute sayings too. I printed them at home and just used some ribbon I had and paper straws for the sticks.
Wishing your kiddos (and all you emotional Mamas, like me) all the best of luck as we start this new school year.
